Interment pas des deux

Carter playing taps at the interment of R. E. Smallwood, July 14th, 2011

We’re in Montreal today, having just interred my grandfather into the most beautiful cemetery at the top of Mont Royal. Carter played taps beautifully as the ashes were lowered into the ground. It was a hard swallow moment. Tomorrow we head to Mt. Tremblant for a family reunion and celebration of life where family will gather in a way that they have not gathered at any other time that any of us can remember. In a reading with Lisa Fox, my grandfather requested yellow balloons and carrot cake. My duty awaits.

Alas, we had another interment in the family this week, but I’ll let my friend Deirdre tell you about that

The blog is not forgotten, if neglected. Summer time…

    Abby,
How moving and heart-felt! My condolences for your and your family’s loss.
I love what Lisa Fox told you about your grandfather! I had a reading with her…all because of you…and it was profound! I am so looking forward to your seminar at Camp Widow so I can personally thank you for Lisa and for all that you do to inspire, encourage and help so many.
    My best,
    Anne Marie

So awesome to see that your grandfather is going to get those yellow balloons and carrot cake! I’d almost forgotten about that directive – if it weren’t for the fact that I was wondering how you all are I came visiting your blog today! Deirdre’s and your text convo was priceless…thanks for sharing and hope the rest of your time there is really lovely. Hope to catch up soon! xx

HI LISA!! Well, this is fun to be talking with you through Abby’s blog!! I have been commenting on every Abby post about YOU since our reading but I have commented several days after the blog post so Abby has not had a chance to go back to reply to me. I am so fortunate though…I am taking Abby’s intensive workshop at Camp Widow so please let her know if you have a chance in case she doesn’t read this!! Talk to you again Lisa!!
