Wake up, the Universe is calling

Do you ever have those days or weeks where the stars and the universe seem to align and you feel like you are being guided? I have been having lunches and coffees and conversations with various people in my life where words like “chakras” and “Kundalini Rising” and “meditation” seem to get woven into the fabric of what would otherwise be a normal discussion about writing or travel adventures or misbehaving kids.

Discussions with CHA (Curly Haired Architect) are often centered around words like “transformation” and “purpose” and “trust in the universe”, and “calling forth desires”, and “being called upon.”

The fact that these discussions are occurring within a very narrow time frame appears significant. Like I am supposed to do something with all of it. That giant neon finger keeps bonking me in the head, but so far I have only been able to discern a few things for certain:

1. Whatever you put out into the universe comes back to you. Good stuff and bad stuff. As I get to know CHA better, I am beginning to realize that as well as his appearance in my brain 9 years ago, there are many other things about us that are aligning. Things I wished for without even really being conscious that I was wishing for them: adoring, ambitious yet balanced, spiritually conscious, someone who challenges me, a connection that is easy and obvious, visually oriented…

2. Related to this is the idea that you create your own world through thought.  I am still coming to terms with this. How much does pure luck/chance play into our lives? How much power do we really have to create our own universe? Where does fate fit into the whole equation? OK, my brain hurts now.

3. Meditation is a theme that seems to repeat itself as in “I need to be meditating more” or more realistically “I need to be meditating period.”

4. Chakras keep coming up. Not sure why. Maybe connected to #2. Either that or I need to see a doctor. Oops. Better not put that into the Universe. I take it back.

In all of this, I am sensing that something is coming, something I need to learn or teach, and need to meditate with in order to discover. God, am I becoming a wacky New Agey Guru or what? Maybe I should write a book… Now THAT can stay out there in that crazy Universe.

You have to be careful with the idea that what you put out into the universe comes back to you. Just the little bit of time I have been studying the sutras leads me to believe that the whole western idea of karma is heavily influenced by Christian ideas of good/bad and reward/punishment. Our actions leave traces and that’s as far as it goes. These actions might rebound, influence someone else, miss them entirely and hurtle on into space never to be heard/seen again. The idea that good is met with good or the opposite, bad begets bad, is simplistic and there isn’t much evidence to support it really when everyone on the planet is taken into account.

Kundalini was brought up at my last training as we are exploring the different pranayamas. Someone made the joke (which is based a bit in truth, I am told) that this particular pranayama can really send a person loop-de-looping. Kunda-loonie is how it was termed. You want to know what you are doing. Study it with someone who is learned.

I do believe in destiny. I do think we have kindred spirits who intersect our lives or travel with us. And I do believe that when we are ready – our teachers arrive.

    Fascinating post.

sounds very new age to me. Not really a bad thing. It is a very interesting topic and one that can invoke discussions that will last a life time. As we know, life is for learning…You are so cool…

Truly excellent comment and warning on the whole “Secret” idea. I truly hadn’t thought in terms of it being a Christian idea, at least in terms of the good stuff/bad stuff business. What you say makes a lot of sense. It is too simplistic, particularly when you take into account the rest of the world. You have me thinking of a new post with regards to a trip Olivia will be taking to Rwanda…

LOVE Kunda-loonie. I do have to respect a person’s experience and without a proper understanding of the true meaning of the term, Kundalini in my mind anyway, has come to be synonymous with an awakening, whatever that might be for someone.

And DampDynamite, thanks for thinking I’m cool! And yes, life is all about learning. What a wonderful thing.

Wow, I’ve been treading these waters myself lately. I found a Unity church (New Thought, similar to New Age but more internally focused) and have been learning about its core spiritual principles. One is The Law of Mind Action — the thoughts that we hold in our minds create our world. Great stuff to think about, and very powerful in shaping behavior.

I am very interested in what surfaces in your life (beyond CHA, obviously) when the time is right!

I love exploring the energy of the chakras. I’m a reiki master practitioner, and am very much in tune with this sort of energy.

Have you read Carolyn Myss: Anatomy of the Spirit? She ties the chakras to other regligions, and relates them to pain and illness in the body. Fascinating stuff.

Go take a trantric breathing class. http://dadshouseblog.com/2009/02/18/tantric-breathing-exercise/
